Wilderness Medicine
Our Curriculum in Wilderness Medicine has the goal of interested residents achieving Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM) status through the Wilderness Medical Society. We have a growing affiliation with the Wilderness Medicine Institute (WMI) of the National Outdoor Leadership School, the world’s largest Wilderness Medicine training organization, with the international headquarters a few hours away in Lander, Wyoming.
Opportunities include:
- A two day training workshop on Casper Mountain taught by WMI instructors
- Access to the Wilderness Medicine data from the National Outdoor Leadership School for research purposes
- Time and money for CME training in Wilderness Medicine
- One month rotation at an emergency room in a remote Wyoming setting
This developing area of curriculum is resident-driven, reflecting the passions and interests of our current residents and faculty as well as many community physicians.
