Casper:
The City

Casper is a city wrapped up in a small town atmosphere. With a population near 50,000 people and an elevation of over 5000 feet, it is located in the central part of Wyoming. The city serves a much larger geographic area and population by providing medical care, shopping and financial services to a greater five county radius.

The exceptional educational system includes one community college, three senior high schools, four junior high schools and approximately 30 elementary schools. With a “school of choice” system, parents are able to choose the school and teaching method that best fits their children. A wide selection of apartments and rental property is available. In addition, affordable houses or condominiums can be purchased. Housing prices are affordable, as is the overall cost of living.

Casper offers four-season recreation with skiing, camping, mountain biking, hiking, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and more. The North Platte River flows through town and offers some white water fun, while Casper Mountain is just a few minutes away, as are two lakes/reservoirs with marinas. There are 38 city parks with picnic shelters, bike paths, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and swimming pools. The city offers several golf courses, ice and roller rinks, indoor swim park, bowling alleys, and movie theaters.

A newly renovated downtown area offers charming shops, boutiques, entertainment and eateries. Eastridge Mall, surrounded by many popular chain restaurants, offers a great variety of shopping. The Casper Events Center attracts many sporting and entertainment attractions, including an annual “Best of Broadway” series. It also houses several rodeos throughout the year, including the National High School Rodeo and it is home field to the Wyoming Cavalry football team. Also, the AA Casper Ghosts baseball team, a subsidiary of the Colorado Rockies, is based in Casper at the Mike Lansing Memorial Field. Finally, larger metropolitan areas such as Denver, Salt Lake City, and Billings are within short driving distances.
