We welcome all medical students to join us for a rural family medicine rotation. Our residency offers four-week elective clerkships for fourth year medical students. The clerkship educational opportunities will be a combination of inpatient as well as outpatient experiences. The student participates in hospital service rounds. The student also sees patients at the CHCCW clinic under the supervision of faculty. In the clinical setting, the student will see a wide range of family practice ranging from newborns to geriatrics.
The residency offers a stipend for all elective rotations and the hospital offers free meals which are available daily during the week for lunch and Tuesdays/Thursdays for breakfast.
We also have formal affiliation agreements with The University of Washington and Des Moines University to provide family medicine. If you are a DMU student, click here for more information. If you are a UWASH student click here for more information.
Housing: The student is responsible for housing. We have made arrangements with a local hotel to offer a greatly reduced rate to medical students. The Skyler Inn is within blocks of the clinic and hospital. The website for the Skyler Inn is: http://www.skylerinn.com or phone toll free 1-866-500-1110. Be sure to mention the discounted rate for medical students.
